Dr Kathleen "Kathy" Casey
Dr Kathleen “Kathy” Casey is both a Clinical & Health Psychologist who has been working in the areas of mental health and HIV for over 33 years. Kathy first starting working in HIV at Albion Centre in the late eighties, and at Taylor Square Private Clinic in the late nineties. She recently returned to the clinic following work with the WHO, UNAIDS, UNHCR, UNICEF & Family Health International overseas where she worked to help train health workers and peer counsellors to set up HIV testing and counselling clinics in developing countries in Asia, Middle East Africa and Eastern Europe. Her overseas work focussed on establishing services, training staff to support LGBTQI, and monitoring the quality of these services. During her time abroad she periodically returned to work in Australia in adult mental health services in Western regions of NSW.
Kathy holds Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and a Masters degree in psychology with a major in rehabilitation as well as postgraduate diplomas in education and counselling. She is a fellow of both the Clinical & Health Psychology Colleges of the Australian Psychological Society. In her capacity as a clinical psychologist Kathy works with people experiencing depression, a range of different types of anxiety, bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia, trauma and adjustment issues. As a health psychologist Kathy works with people living with a range of illnesses including HIV, Huntington’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis.
Kathy offers Medicare bulk billing to clients with a Centrelink concession cards, holders of full time student cards. Additionally Kathy is an accredited NDIS and DVA provider, and also offers services claimable under private health “Extras” and third party motor vehicle insurance cover.
Availability: Dr Casey’s usual days at the clinic are Tuesdays & Fridays.
